About Dr. Artnak

Dr. Melissa Artnak is a licensed psychologist in the state of Ohio. She specializes in conducting psychological and pediatric neuropsychological evaluations. In 2017, Dr. Artnak joined the team of clinicians at the Macks Psychology Group, contributing her diverse knowledge, educational background, and clinical experiences.

Dr. Artnak works with children, adolescents, and young adults who experience neurodevelopmental, genetic, medical, and neurological conditions. Dr. Artnak has specialty training and experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit /hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioral symptoms. Dr. Artnak also has considerable experience in assessment of giftedness and identifying opportunities for academic enrichment.

In providing neuropsychological evaluation services, Dr. Artnak’s mission is to help identify areas of strength and difficulty in brain-based skills, and to provide recommendations and resources based on evaluation findings. Dr. Artnak values the opportunity to consult and collaborate with parents, educators, and treatment providers to develop service plans to meet each child’s unique needs.

Dr. Artnak earned her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychological and Brain Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University, with a minor in Writing Seminars. Dr. Artnak completed her graduate work at Loyola University Maryland, where she earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Clinical Psychology and a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology.

She completed a pre-doctoral internship at The Watson Institute in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, where she specialized in the pediatric neuropsychology track in addition to obtaining experiences in providing services to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder diagnoses. As part of the program, she also completed a rotation in neuropsychology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, working with patients across the lifespan.

Dr. Artnak then completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship specializing in pediatric neuropsychology at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. During the post-doctoral fellowship, Dr. Artnak completed supervised clinical work in a hospital setting with a highly specialized focus in pediatric neuropsychological assessment. She also participated in a multidisciplinary research project about executive functioning skills in children diagnosed with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia.

From 2014 to 2016, Dr. Artnak provided outpatient psychological and pediatric neuropsychological services as a clinical psychologist at the practice of Dr. Sharon Phillips and Associates, which was located in West Chester, Ohio. During this time, Dr. Artnak developed a strong repertoire of knowledge about the resources available to her clients in Southwestern Ohio and the Tri-State region.
